# Credits and AI usage costs

> How Rheos credits work: monthly allowances by plan, what posts, images, videos and website scrapes cost, and how your balance refreshes each billing cycle.

Credits are how Rheos meters AI usage. Every time you generate a post, image, or video with AI, or scrape a website, it costs a small number of credits.

## What you get each month

Your plan includes a credit allowance that refreshes on your billing date.

<Note>
  Unused credits **don't roll over** to the next month — your balance resets to your plan's allowance when your billing cycle renews.

## What things cost

Credits are spent on the heavier AI work — image generation and importing a brand from a
website. Writing posts, captions and ideas with AI doesn't draw down credits.

  The exact cost of an action is always shown in the app at the point you run it — that's
  the number to trust, since pricing changes from time to time.

## Where to see your balance

Your remaining credits are shown in the sidebar of the dashboard and in **Settings → Billing**. The billing page also shows recent usage so you can see what's been costing what.

## Running low?

  We don't sell credit top-up packs. If you're regularly running out on Free or Business, upgrading to the next plan gives you 3–4x more credits and removes the watermark in one move.

<Warning>
  On the **Free** plan there's no "Buy credits" option — once you hit 0 for the month, AI generation pauses until your cycle resets. Publishing already-created posts continues to work.

## How a generation is charged

You're charged when a generation succeeds. If a generation fails partway through (e.g. an AI provider error), credits are **refunded automatically** — you'll see them back in your balance within a minute or two.
