# Personal vs business brands

> Choosing between a personal and a business brand in Rheos — first-person founder voice versus institutional company voice, and which platforms suit each.

Rheos supports two brand types. They look similar in the dashboard but Rheos writes for them differently — first-person and human for personal, third-person and institutional for business.

## Personal brand

A **personal brand** represents you, the human.

* Voice: first person ("I", "we"), opinionated, conversational.
* Best for: founders, consultants, freelancers, creators, sales leaders, agency operators.
* Typical platforms: LinkedIn (personal profile), X, personal Instagram.
* Photos and videos usually feature **you**.

Use a personal brand when the audience is buying you — your taste, your expertise, your face. LinkedIn thought-leadership is the classic example.

## Business brand

A **business brand** represents a company.

* Voice: third person, more institutional, but still warm — not corporate boilerplate.
* Best for: product companies, agencies, retailers, service businesses.
* Typical platforms: Instagram business account, LinkedIn company page, Facebook page, TikTok business, Pinterest.
* Photos and videos usually feature **the product, premises, customers or team**.

Use a business brand when the audience is buying from the company — products, services, bookings, demos.

## When to use both

You'll often want to run both in parallel:

* **Personal brand on LinkedIn**: the founder shares lessons, opinions, hires, war stories.
* **Business brand on Instagram / TikTok**: the company posts product launches, customer stories, behind-the-scenes.

This is a deliberate pattern — personal brands compound trust with humans, business brands compound recognition with buyers. Rheos can run them side-by-side without one bleeding into the other.

## Switching between them

Use the brand selector at the top of the sidebar at [dashboard.rheos.app](https://dashboard.rheos.app). Everything in the dashboard — posts list, calendar, library, sources — filters to the brand you've selected.

  Drafting a post under the wrong brand? Open the post, switch the brand in the editor's brand selector, and Rheos rewrites the draft to fit the new voice.
