# Per-platform variations

> Tailor copy, hashtags and media per network from a single Rheos draft — adjust the LinkedIn version, shorten for X and tweak Instagram captions in one place.

One post rarely lands the same on LinkedIn as it does on Instagram or X. Rheos lets you start from a single draft and tweak it per network — without having to create separate posts.

## How variations work

When you build a post, you pick which platforms it should go to. Each one starts with the same copy and media. From there, you can override:

* **Caption / body text** — shorten for X, lengthen for LinkedIn, add line breaks for Instagram
* **Hashtags** — different sets per platform
* **Media** — swap an image, change the order of carousel slides, or use a different aspect ratio
* **Link** — some networks let you include a URL in the body; others (Instagram) don't

  Don't have time to tailor each network? Just publish the shared draft — Rheos will adapt media to each platform's required aspect ratio automatically.

## Tailor a post

    In the publish panel, tick every network you want this post to go to.

  <Step title="Switch tabs per network">
    A tab appears for each selected platform. Select a tab to see that network's preview.

  <Step title="Edit just that platform">
    Changes you make inside a platform tab only affect that one. The shared draft stays untouched.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Publish or schedule">
    When you're happy with each preview, hit publish or schedule. Each network sends its tailored version.

## Character limits

Rheos warns you when a platform's copy is over its character limit before you publish. Common limits:

| Platform  | Limit               |
| --------- | ------------------- |
| X         | 280 characters      |
| Bluesky   | 300 characters      |
| Mastodon  | 500 characters      |
| LinkedIn  | 3,000 characters    |
| Instagram | 2,200 characters    |
| Facebook  | \~63,000 characters |

  LinkedIn supports **company and person mentions** inside the body — type `@` and pick from the dropdown.

<Warning>
  If you delete a platform from the post after writing a variation, that variation is discarded. Re-add the platform and it'll start from the shared draft again.
